Alleged coup plot: Wives of detained soldiers urge government to either prosecute or free their husbands

Wives of soldiers reportedly linked to an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu have called on the Federal Government to either formally charge their husbands in court or release them.
The women made the appeal on Friday during a press briefing in Abuja.
They also requested that authorities grant them access to see their detained spouses.
According to the group, the families of the soldiers have been living in uncertainty, fear, and confusion since the arrests were made.
They insisted that the matter should be handled transparently and in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The women said the past few months have been extremely difficult and emotionally draining for their families.
They explained that they have watched as different narratives about the case were circulated publicly, subjecting their husbands to what they described as a trial in the media. Some of them also alleged that they had experienced intimidation from uniformed personnel.
“Either take our husbands to court or set them free,” the women declared.
