Suspected Thugs Disrupt PDP Local Government Congresses in Oyo

Suspected political thugs on Saturday disrupted the local government congresses organized by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State.
The affected faction is believed to be aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Information gathered indicates that the party in Oyo State is currently divided into two major factions.
One faction is loyal to Wike while the other group is aligned with the state governor, Seyi Makinde.
Sources revealed that the faction loyal to Wike had scheduled its local government congresses to hold across the state on Saturday.
The exercise, however, was interrupted after hoodlums suspected to be political thugs stormed some of the venues where the congresses were taking place.
During the incident, several party members were reportedly attacked while a number of vehicles were damaged.
Reports indicate that about ten individuals sustained attacks during the disruption.
The chairman of the Wike aligned faction in the state, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, later confirmed the development.
Speaking during a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon, Akinoso said the attacks affected several locations across the state.
He listed Ibadan North, Ogbomoso North, Ibarapa Central, and Akinyele as areas where the congresses were disrupted.
Akinoso further stated that three vehicles were vandalized in Ibadan North around Gbolarumi House on Are Avenue in the Bodija area.
He added that the attacks affected about ten people across the affected locations in the state.
