March 8: You Are the Bedrock of Our Society — Fagbenro-Bibire Celebrates Women on Women’s Day

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has congratulated women in Ibadan South-West and North-West Federal Constituency of Oyo State and across the globe on the occasion of the 2026 International Women’s Day, describing them as the backbone that keeps society standing tall.
In a congratulatory statement he personally signed and made available to Polity Reporters, the leading House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan South-West and North-West Federal Constituency under the umbrella of the PDP said women remain the rock on which homes are built and the strong hands that keep the wheels of society turning.
He noted that women have continually carried the weight of families on their shoulders, while also holding communities together through thick and thin, stressing that their contributions remain the glue that binds society together.
The retired United States Navy veteran stated that women are uniquely created and play second fiddle to none in moulding lives, adding that their role in building and strengthening society cannot be swept under the carpet.
He further praised women for their resilience, perseverance, compassion, creativity, and nurturing spirit, noting that these qualities have enabled them to weather many storms while still keeping the home fires burning.
The renowned philanthropist, widely known for putting the welfare of women front and centre, reaffirmed his resolve to open more doors for women in governance and ensure their voices are not left on the sidelines when decisions that affect society are made.
Fagbenro-Bibire added that if elected to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives next year, he would leave no stone unturned in sponsoring laws that protect women’s rights, promote gender equality, expand educational and healthcare opportunities for women and girls, and level the playing field for female entrepreneurs and leaders.
The strong ally of Governor Seyi Makinde also gave credit where it is due, commending the governor for breaking new ground by appointing a significant number of women into strategic positions in the state government.
He equally noted that the Makinde administration has put its money where its mouth is through various empowerment programmes designed to strengthen women economically and help them stand on their own feet.
Fagbenro-Bibire expressed confidence that more initiatives are in the pipeline from the governor to raise the bar in empowering women and boosting their confidence in society.
He concluded by congratulating women worldwide on International Women’s Day and encouraged them to keep the flag flying in nurturing children with sound spiritual, moral, and social values so that society can reap the fruits of a better tomorrow.
