2026 World Cup: De La Fuente Names Spain As Favourite

Spain head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has declared his team as one of the favourites to win the 2026 World Cup.
In an interview ahead of Spain’s international friendly against Egypt on Tuesday, de la Fuente expressed confidence in his squad, which is set to face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay in Group H.
“We are among the favourites to win the World Cup, and I embrace the challenge,” said de la Fuente.
However, he acknowledged that his team must deliver a perfect performance to claim the trophy, noting that several other teams are equally strong.
He also shared that preparations for the World Cup have been underway since last Monday, with Spain’s sole focus on achieving that goal.
Spain will face Egypt after a 3-0 victory over Serbia in their previous friendly.
The last time Spain won the World Cup was in 2010 in South Africa.
