ADC Accuses APC of Plot to Destabilise Party Amid Political Shifts

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over what it calls a renewed attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilise the opposition amid political realignments.
In a statement shared on his official X account, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the APC of planning a protest in Abuja to influence ongoing legal and political disputes within the party.
Abdullahi claimed this follows a previous unsuccessful effort by APC-linked figures to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) into taking “illegal actions” against ADC after Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s defection.
The ADC spokesperson further alleged that a protest, scheduled for Thursday, April 2, in Abuja, is being sponsored by a “particularly notorious minister,” with intentions to create public pressure on INEC.
Abdullahi said the protest would involve paid individuals posing as aggrieved party members demanding the removal of David Mark from a leadership role, a move he argued is aimed at influencing INEC to recognise someone who had already resigned and been expelled from the ADC.
He warned that the APC’s plan to hijack the ADC’s leadership has reached new levels of desperation, but assured that the ADC would resist such attempts through legal means.
Abdullahi also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene if the alleged actions are being carried out without his approval.
As of now, neither the APC nor the Federal Government has officially responded to the allegations.
