‘Humans More Cruel Than Snakes’ – Actor Baba Ijesha Breaks Silence After Prison Release

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has declared that human beings can be more dangerous and wicked than snakes.

The actor made the remark three months after regaining his freedom from a Lagos State correctional facility, where he served a prison sentence following his conviction over sexual assault allegations brought against him by actress and comedian Damilola Adekoya, widely known as Princess.

It will be recalled that in 2021, Princess accused Baba Ijesha of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter at her residence.

Reports indicate that the actor was released in November 2025 after completing a five-year jail term.

Speaking publicly for the first time since his release, Baba Ijesha addressed the controversy in a viral music video, where he alleged that Princess orchestrated the incident that led to his imprisonment.

Narrating his version of events, the actor advised his supporters and the public to exercise caution in their friendships.

Maintaining that the situation was a trap allegedly arranged by Princess, whom he described as a close friend, Baba Ijesha said he felt deeply betrayed by people he trusted.

According to him, “My trust was broken and I found myself in Kirikiri prison because of a woman. She instructed them to silence me so my voice would not be heard. This is exactly how everything happened. Please listen to my own account of the story.

“The incident occurred on April 21, 2021. Princess, who used to be my friend, invited me to her house and said she was preparing my favourite meal — pounded yam with egusi soup and bush meat. That was how I was lured there. The world is truly wicked. Earlier, she had mentioned a movie role for me but said she wanted me to act differently this time as a younger character because she wanted to elevate my career. I never imagined the destination would be Kirikiri and Panti prison.

“When I arrived at her house, I saw some people already there. While waiting for the food to be ready, I began rehearsing the script the supposed director had given me, not knowing there was no movie project at all. It was all a trap. The real culprit is walking freely while an innocent man suffers. That was how I ended up in Kirikiri.

“I urge my fans to be careful with friends. Many of them cannot be trusted. Stay away from them because the world is evil, and humans can be more wicked than venomous snakes.”
