Osun 2026: Adeleke Fires Back at APC Over Threats to Use Federal Power

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has taken aim at the APC in the state, accusing them of threatening to use federal power in the upcoming governorship election.
Adeleke stressed that federal influence should be used for governance, not to manipulate elections.
During a meeting in Osogbo, he warned that any attempt to intimidate voters before the August 15 election would be futile.
He criticized the APC for dragging President Bola Tinubu’s name into their anti-democratic rhetoric.
According to Adeleke, the president is focused on national development, not meddling in state electoral processes.
He made it clear that neither the president nor his top officials would support the Osun APC’s attempts to disrupt the election.
The governor urged the people of Osun to stay vigilant and fully participate in the electoral process.
He reassured them that their votes would ultimately determine the winner.
At the meeting, former Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuf called on party leaders to ramp up grassroots efforts and safeguard votes during the election.
Senator Olu Alabi also urged elders across the state to prepare and support Adeleke’s re-election bid.
Prof. Wale Oladipo and Sunday Bisi, the state PDP chairman, reaffirmed their support for the governor, urging party structures to mobilize voters.
In response, APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji denied that the party would use federal influence in the election.
During a Ramadan lecture in Osogbo, Oyebamiji stated that the APC had been engaging with traditional leaders and residents across all 30 local government areas.
He emphasized that the party would not rely on federal might but would continue working hard to lead Osun State.
