US Court Hits Ashekun with $300,000 Fine for Defaming Mountain of Fire Ministries

The Baltimore County Court in Maryland, USA, has imposed a $300,000 penalty on Olufunke Ashekun for defaming Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Ministries USA and its founder, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.

Ashekun and MFM have been embroiled in a legal dispute over her social media posts and campaigns, which the church deemed defamatory and harmful.

The jury found Ashekun guilty of “defamation and false light” and ordered her to pay $250,000 in compensatory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages.

The court stressed that MFM proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and criticized Ashekun’s weak and inadmissible evidence.

The court also acknowledged the prolonged and malicious nature of Ashekun’s campaign, which tarnished MFM’s professional integrity and reputation.
