Sultan of Sokoto Sets Friday for Eid-El-Fitr Celebration

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that Friday, March 20, 2026, will be observed as Eid-El-Fitr.
He made this declaration on Wednesday evening.
The announcement came after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted in Nigeria.
Eid-El-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, and is a time of prayer and feasting for Muslims worldwide.
This declaration also coincides with the announcement from Saudi Arabian authorities.
They confirmed that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal was not sighted on Wednesday.
As a result, Friday has been set as the official day for the Eid celebration.
