Trump on NATO: ‘We no longer need their help’ after Strait of Hormuz Rejection

President Donald Trump declared that the United States no longer requires assistance from NATO following the rejection of his request for a multinational naval force to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz trade route, which Iran has closed.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump described the dismissal of his requests as a “very foolish mistake.”
He added, “Everyone agrees with us, but they are unwilling to assist. And we, as the United States, must keep this in mind because we find it quite shocking.”
Trump expressed disappointment that European nations, particularly the UK, had not dispatched minesweepers to aid the operation.
He called it “unfair” to the United States.
Trump also criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, pointing out that relations with the UK had been positive prior to Starmer’s tenure.
The US president’s comments followed Starmer’s statement that the UK would defend itself and its allies but would not be drawn into a wider conflict.
Trump’s remarks come amid growing concerns from US allies regarding his evolving rationale for the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, now entering its third week.
Additionally, Trump criticized Japan, Australia, and South Korea for their refusal to send warships.
He asserted, “We no longer ‘need,’ nor desire, the assistance of NATO countries _ WE NEVER DID!”
The crisis in the Middle East has intensified as Iran targets cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
This has halted oil shipments and driven up global prices.
