1 Power Outage in Lagos During Eid
Many areas in Lagos and its surrounding regions were without power throughout the weekend and the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This was due to a total lack of electricity supply, with ten distribution companies (DisCos) including Eko Distribution and Ikeja Electric receiving no allocation as of Sunday evening.
2 Tinubu Tackles Insecurity
President Bola Tinubu, speaking in Lagos, announced that his administration would strengthen efforts to address the country’s security challenges. He emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens was a major topic in his meetings in the UK. He acknowledged that the country’s next major challenge is overcoming insecurity.
3. Gunmen Attack Worshippers in Kwara
In Kwara State, gunmen attacked a worship centre during a Sunday service in Ifelodun local government area. The incident took place at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Omugo community, where churchgoers were attending the regular service.
4. Violence in Katsina
A wave of violent events, including a suspected gang attack and clashes between communities, resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries in Katsina. The incidents occurred in areas such as Tudun Wada, Bakin Gawo, and Unguwar Wala, which have struggled with ongoing youth violence despite efforts from security forces.
5. APC Schedules Screening for National Offices
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the screening of aspirants for national offices will take place on Tuesday, March 24, in preparation for its national convention. The screening will be held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
6. Peter Obi Meets Kwankwaso in Kano
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, visited Kano on Sunday to meet with former governor and political figure, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The meeting also included Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, and activist Naajatu Mohammed.

Ahead of the APC’s gubernatorial primaries next month, 31 governors from the party gathered in Lagos to discuss the state of the nation and strategize for a smooth primary process. One of the main concerns was ensuring the primaries are free of conflict.
8. Arrests Made in Delta State Over Sexual Harassment
In Delta State, the police have arrested eleven additional individuals in connection to sexual harassment and assault during a festival in Oramudu quarters, Ozoro. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to 15.
9. Nigerian Navy Intercepts Illegally Refined Petroleum
The Nigerian Navy has seized approximately 44,000 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products in Rivers State. Eight suspects have been arrested in connection to the illegal activity.
10. Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealers in Akwa Ibom
In Akwa Ibom State, the police have detained four suspected drug dealers in the Eket Local Government Area. The police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday.
