Iran Opens Strait of Hormuz, Bans Enemy Nations from Access

Iran has announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to all ships, as long as proper security and safety measures are followed.
However, vessels linked to enemy nations, such as the US and Israel, are prohibited from using the strategic waterway.
Ali Mousavi, Iran’s representative to the UN’s International Maritime Organization, stated that the US-Israeli “aggression” was the main reason for the strait’s effective closure.
Diplomacy remains Iran’s primary focus, Mousavi emphasized, but halting aggressive actions and fostering trust between nations is crucial.
Before the war between the US, Israel, and Iran began on February 28, around one-fifth of global crude oil shipments passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
While Iran has allowed some friendly countries like China, India, and Pakistan to use the strait, ships from other nations have been attacked or blocked from passage, potentially with mines placed in the water.
This situation has caused disruptions in the global energy market. Iran has named the US, Israel, and their allies as enemies, making it clear that they are not allowed passage.
The US is reportedly considering plans to occupy or blockade Iran’s Kharg Island, aiming to pressure Tehran into reopening the vital waterway.
President Donald Trump has warned Iran to open the strait within 48 hours, or the US will “obliterate” Iranian power plants.
