Carabao Cup final: Arsenal, Man City face off for first silverware

This year’s Carabao Cup final will see Arsenal take on Manchester City.

Both teams are currently atop the Premier League as we approach the first international break of 2026.

Many fans and pundits already believe the title race is over, with Arsenal leading City by nine points and just eight fixtures remaining.

Pep Guardiola’s side has had a tough week.

After Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 with two late goals, City drew 1-1 with West Ham.

Then, City were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, ending their hopes of winning an unlikely Quadruple.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 and advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals, still competing on all fronts.

The Carabao Cup will be the first trophy of the season.

There’s a debate over which team needs it more.

Some believe Arsenal is focused on bigger trophies, while others feel winning the Carabao Cup would prove they can succeed in the long run.

For City, losing could derail their season, but a win might plant doubt in Arsenal’s minds.

What’s certain is that this won’t be the last time these two face off for silverware this season.

This match could set the tone for the rest of the campaign.
