Nigerian Governors Submit State Police Proposal to National Assembly

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has submitted a proposal for the creation of state police to the 10th National Assembly.

This was revealed by NGF chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, during a Sallah visit by 25 governors to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos on Sunday.

AbdulRazaq noted that this move is part of ongoing efforts under President Tinubu’s administration to tackle the country’s persistent security challenges.

The governors committed to strengthening collaboration with security forces to combat terrorism, expand infrastructure, and improve socio-economic conditions in line with the administration’s development agenda.

Governors present at the meeting included Sen. Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Alex Otti (Abia), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), and several others.
