PDP Crisis: Fagbenro-Bibire Backs Makinde’s Pro-People Position, Urges Leaders Not to Ignore Hardship in the Land

Staunch ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has expressed firm support for the governor’s position on the ongoing leadership developments within the Peoples Democratic Party.
He noted that Governor Makinde has shown that his priority remains the interest of the people and the protection of democratic values.
The leading House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency under the platform of the PDP made this known today, Saturday, while reacting to the leadership developments unfolding within the PDP.
According to him, the situation within the party calls for leaders who will remain guided by principle and by the larger interest of the people rather than allowing disagreements within the party to overshadow the responsibility of leadership.
He further noted that Governor Seyi Makinde has made it clear through his public remarks that his concern at this moment goes beyond internal party matters and touches on the health of democracy in Nigeria.
He said, “Governor Makinde has made it clear that moments like this demand leaders who will stand on the side of the people and remain conscious of how history will judge the decisions taken during this period.”
He also stated that the governor’s words have calmed the nerves of many party members and supporters, proving that responsible leadership is still alive in the party, even as the political scene appears turbulent.
“His bold statement calls to mind that leadership shoulders responsibility and that those who occupy positions of authority must always remember the impact of their actions on the democratic system and on the people,” he noted.
He added that Makinde’s submissions have shown that political leaders must keep the larger picture in mind and remain committed to strengthening democratic institutions in the country.
“When leaders speak with firm conviction about democracy and the people whose hopes are tied to it, they help right the ship, and rebuild trust, as a channel of reassuring everyone that the system works for the people.
In another development, Bibire urged politicians across the country not to lose sight of the daily struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians in the midst of political activities.
He said, “The present realities across the country demand serious attention as many citizens struggle with rising living costs and the weight of daily survival.”
He further pointed to the increase in petrol prices and the chain reaction it has created across different sectors of the economy, noting that transportation costs have risen and the effect is felt in markets and households.
“Today the price of petrol affects transport fares and transport fares influence the cost of food and basic goods in the market and this situation continues to stretch the pockets of ordinary Nigerians,” he stressed.
He also advised that leaders must keep their attention on policies and actions that will ease the burden faced by citizens across every community.
“The philosopher Aristotle once observed that the aim of politics is the welfare of the people, and leaders must remember that every decision taken in government should improve the lives of the citizens,” he established.
He ended that politicians should always put the people’s welfare front and center while handling party matters and carrying the weight of their political responsibilities.
