No Bandits in Ondo — Police
The Ondo State Police Command has refuted claims that bandits are operating in the state, asserting that those responsible for kidnappings and killings are criminals.
Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal made this clarification on Monday, revealing that those arrested in connection with crimes are not bandits.

Lawal spoke in Akure during a security show of force amid rising insecurity in the state in recent months.
The police chief emphasized, “We don’t have bandits in Ondo State. We have criminals, not bandits,” adding that two suspected logistics suppliers for criminals and kidnappers had been arrested along the Eleyowo and Iluabo axes.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa also recently stated that bandits have not been active in Ondo since the 2022 Owo massacre.
Communities in the Akure Airport area have been frequently targeted by bandit attacks, with a rise in killings and kidnappings.
These incidents have led to protests by local youths demanding better security measures.
