Church Must Not Be Controlled by Government Over Worship Hours — Pastor Giwa

Pastor Adewale Giwa of Awaiting the Second Coming of Christ Ministry has urged the church to rise from its slumber before the forces of darkness take over.
Giwa’s comments came in response to the recent directive by the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, who advised religious centres to suspend night worship due to ongoing security challenges.
The police commissioner based his request on the abduction of six worshippers at a Celestial Church in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
Addressing his congregation in Akure, Pastor Giwa expressed his disapproval, saying, “Once you are filled with the Holy Spirit, fear disappears. Today, a government that does not fear God dictates to the church when to close its programme, and the church foolishly agrees to it.”
He continued, questioning the church’s current state, saying, “Where is the Holy Spirit that rested upon Daniel to continue to pray, even when King Darius signed a decree prohibiting prayer?”
He also referenced the courage of Peter and John, who defied the Jewish council’s orders and continued preaching the gospel.
“The church is sleeping and needs to wake up before the devil finally takes over,” he warned.
