Maiduguri Bombings: 23 Dead, 108 Injured in Multiple Attacks

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that 23 people died and 108 others were injured in a series of explosions in Maiduguri.

The blasts took place at around 7:24 p.m. on Monday at the Maiduguri Monday Market, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital gate, and the Post Office Flyover area.

Preliminary investigations suggest the explosions were carried out by suspected suicide bombers using improvised explosive devices.

A statement from Police Public Relations Officer Nahum Kenneth Daso confirmed the casualties and stated that joint security forces had been deployed to restore order.

Following the attacks, the scenes were secured, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit conducted thorough sweep operations to ensure no further threats remained.

Victims were evacuated by emergency responders from the National Emergency Management Agency and the Borno State Emergency Management Agency and are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

Normalcy has since been restored in the affected areas, with heightened security and surveillance across Maiduguri to prevent further incidents.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
