Oba of Benin Sanctions Queen, Chiefs Over Palace Desecration by Influencer

The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has sanctioned a Queen, chiefs, and palace staff for allowing influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, aka “Peller,” unauthorized access to the palace.
According to BTC secretary Frank Irabor, a staff member, Mr. Omuemu, has been detained by the police for breaching the peace and aiding the unauthorized entry.
The Queen involved faces disciplinary proceedings that could lead to her removal from the palace.
On March 6, 2026, Adelaja entered the palace without permission, causing embarrassment and disrupting the sacred environment.
The BTC confirmed that they have suspended a chief and initiated investigations into the incident.
Irabor stated that Adelaja was invited to explain himself before the chiefs but failed to comply.
The BTC has demanded a formal apology from Adelaja and warned of legal action if he does not respond.
