Sultan of Sokoto Urges Muslims to Search for Sallah Moon on Wednesday

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims to begin searching for the crescent moon that will signal the end of Ramadan.

A statement from the Sultanate Council announced that Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the 29th day of Ramadan, is designated for moon sighting.

Muslims who spot the crescent are urged to report it to local authorities, who will forward the information to the Sultanate Council for confirmation.

The sighting marks the start of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
