Former Kano Deputy Governor, Gwarzo Exits NNPP, Cites Political Shift

Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, former Deputy Governor of Kano State, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, Gwarzo addressed the Chairman of the NNPP in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area, announcing that his resignation takes immediate effect.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) Kano State Chapter, effective from today, 29 March, 2026,” he wrote.
The former deputy governor explained that his decision followed careful consideration of the current political situation and wide consultations with his political associates.
“The decision comes after deep reflection and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state,” Gwarzo stated.
He noted that recent political developments made it necessary for him to reconsider his membership in the party.
“Recent political developments and the evolving political landscape have made it necessary for me to review my membership in the interest of the people, and the future of our state and the nation,” he added.
Gwarzo explained that his decision was driven by a desire to pursue a different political direction that better aligns with his vision.
“My decision is informed by patriotic consideration and the need to pursue a political path that aligns with my vision for good governance, democratic values, and sustainable development of our dear state,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the NNPP for their support during his time with the party.
“I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the cooperation, respect, and support I received during my stay in the party,” Gwarzo said.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity accorded me under the platform of the party,” he concluded.
He ended his letter by sending his best wishes to the party leadership.
“Please accept my highest regards and best wishes,” he stated.
