Oyo Speaker Ogundoyin Announces Candidacy for 2027 Guber Election

Adebowale Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has officially declared his intention to contest in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Ogundoyin, from the Ibarapa geopolitical zone of the state, made the announcement during a meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders on Sunday in Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa Central local government area.

The meeting was attended by key political figures, including Anthony Adepoju, the House of Representatives member for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North, Ademola Ojo, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and Wasilat Adegoke, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports.

Also present were Alhaji Kamoru Adeyemi, PDP Chairman for Oyo South Senatorial District, and other PDP chairmen from Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, and Ibarapa Central local government areas.

Ogundoyin, who currently represents Ibarapa East State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, affirmed his readiness to contest under the platform of the PDP after stakeholders encouraged him to do so.

The meeting, originally convened to discuss the upcoming visit of Governor Seyi Makinde to the region, also provided a platform for Ogundoyin to formally announce his gubernatorial ambition.
