Supporting Tinubu Not Anti-Party for PDP Members — Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has stated that supporting President Bola Tinubu does not constitute anti-party activity, even though he is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose made these comments while stressing that national interest should take precedence over party loyalty, noting that political differences are a normal aspect of democracy.

He spoke at the PDP national convention in Abuja on Sunday.

“Nigeria is for all of us, you are first an Ekiti man before you become a political party card bearer. All the former governors are behind the current governor,” he said.

Fayose also referenced international politics to support his stance.

“Obama is not supporting the Democrats, the former president is not supporting Trump, have they expelled them? No, democracy will have those differences on national issues,” he added.

The former governor further emphasized that support should be based on competence, not party affiliation.

“We must not say because it’s our party member that must win when we know our party member has no capacity. Would you compare a Makinde with an Asiwaju?” he queried.
