BREAKING: Nigeria’s inflation drops slightly to 15.06% in February

Nigeria’s inflation has taken a minor dip, dropping to 15.06% in February 2026, a slight improvement from 15.10% in January.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) made this known in its Consumer Price Index and inflation report released on Monday.

According to the NBS, the overall inflation rate dropped by just 0.04 percentage points on a month-to-month basis.

However, food inflation climbed to 12.12% in February, up from 8.89% in January.

NBS stated, “February 2026’s headline inflation stood at 15.06%, down from 15.10% in January 2026.”

“On a month-to-month basis, February’s inflation rate stood at 2.01%, which was 4.89% higher than the -2.88% rate in January 2026,” the NBS noted.

“This indicates that in February, the rate of price hikes was higher compared to January,” they added.

The Financial Derivatives Company (FDC) had previously predicted a decline to 14.07% for February’s headline inflation.
