Asake Opens Up On Father’s Strong Opposition To Music Career

Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed that his father strongly opposed his decision to pursue a music career.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Asake recalled that his relationship with his father became strained after he decided to follow his passion for music.

He shared that despite his father’s objections, he went ahead and chased his dream.

“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now, but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” Asake said.

In March 2025, Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, accused the singer of neglect and abandonment.

Following the controversy, Asake and his father reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his father’s well-being.
