AFCON Trophy Going Nowhere — Senegal To CAF

Senegal have refused to return the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped them of the title.

Recall that CAF declared the 2025 AFCON final a walkover and awarded hosts Morocco a 3-0 win.

The decision followed Senegal’s walk-off during stoppage time after Morocco was awarded a penalty for the final kick of the match.

According to the UK Sun, even with CAF’s ruling, Senegal are refusing to hand back the trophy, describing the decision as “unjust, unprecedented, and unacceptable.”

The Secretary-General of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Sow, has also accused CAF of corruption and insisted the trophy would be going nowhere.
