Who’s This Man Called Bibire? — By Bibire Media

Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly known as Bibire, is a name that rings a bell across the political space and stands as a household name among many, most especially in Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency, but to quench the thirst of those eager to see beyond the surface, it’s time to peel back the layers and reveal the man who keeps his resolve behind the name.
—Early Life and Background—
Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly known as Bibire was born on November 18, 1972, in Odo Ona area of Apata in Ibadan, into the family of Mr Emmanuel Olawuyi Fagbenro and Mrs Taiwo Clara Fagbenro.
He was raised in a Christian home where discipline, moral values, and the fear of God played a strong role in defining his character from childhood.
—Education and Early Formation—
He began his early education at IMG Primary School in Apata, Ibadan before proceeding to Government College Ibadan for his junior and senior secondary school education where he distinguished himself as a brilliant science student.
While at Government College Ibadan, he was actively involved in the Cadet Corps which exposed him to discipline, leadership, and structured living that later prepared him for military life.
After completing his secondary education, he acquired vocational skills in automobile mechanics in Ibadan, a phase that grounded him in practical life experience before travelling abroad.
Bibire is currently the Vice Chairman (North America) of the Government College Ibadan 1984 Set.
—Journey to the United States and Military Career—
Bibire’s search for greater opportunities led him to the United States where he pursued further education and professional development.
He attended institutions such as Strayer University, University of Phoenix, and ECPI College of Technology where he studied Information Systems and related fields.
In 1996, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he rose through applaudable dedication and excellence to bag himself outstanding recognition as one of the top aviation support trainees in his class.
He underwent training at Naval Air Station Pensacola and later served in different strategic locations including Naval Air Station Norfolk and overseas assignments in Greece.
As part of his service, he participated in global operations including Operation Iraqi Freedom, contributing to international peace and security efforts.
His considerable years in service earned him several commendations, awards, and recognitions including presidential commendation letters for meritorious service.
He later sustained a knee injury during active service which led to his medical discharge with honour in 2003.
—Professional Career After Military Service—
Following his discharge, he transitioned into civilian life and built a career in the information technology sector.
He worked with organizations such as Dell Computers, the United States Department of Defence, and the Internal Revenue Service where he gained extensive experience in technology and public systems.
Over time, he established himself as an information technology specialist with a strong professional footprint.
—Humanitarian Works and Community Impact—
Bibire is widely known for a humanitarian lifestyle that places people at the centre of everything he does.
His guiding belief is that hope alone is not enough and that help must follow, a conviction that has driven his continuous life-changing outreach to the needy.
In view of this, he founded the Hope Also Needs Help Foundation with the belief that hope must be backed with practical support.
Through this initiative, he has carried out numerous interventions directed at supporting the less privileged and improving living conditions in underserved communities.
For over seven years, he has, without any hiatus, organized annual Christmas funfairs that have catered for more than three thousand children, giving them joy, support, and a sense of belonging.
In one remarkable instance, he personally ensured the recovery and wellness of a mentally challenged woman widely known as Iya Ibadan, restoring her dignity and place in the society.
His contributions to education include support for students through initiatives such as provision of learning opportunities and assistance that reduce barriers to education.
He has also been involved in community development efforts including access to basic needs such as clean water and welfare support for vulnerable groups.
His humanitarian efforts spread tentacles to empowerment programmes including financial assistance and material support to widows, youths, and small scale earners across the horizontal and vertical lines of Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency, Oyo State, and Nigeria.
In recognition of his impact, he was honoured as a Sustainable Development Goals Ambassador for his contributions to youth empowerment and humanitarian service.
He has also supported persons living with disabilities and contributed to initiatives that promote inclusion and self reliance.
His impactful interventions over the years have continued to earn him commendations from groups such as the National Association of Nigerian Students for his role in education and grassroots development.
To attempt to list all his humanitarian efforts is to begin to count the sands of the whole world, a task that is practically impossible.
—Political Journey and Growth—
Bibire formally ventured into the political space in 2016 with a strong desire to translate his humanitarian work into structured representation.
In 2019, he contested for the House of Representatives seat for Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan Southwest Federal Constituency under the Young Democratic Party where he emerged 6th among notable contenders.
Inspired by the people-centred leadership of Seyi Makinde, he joined the Peoples Democratic Party in 2021.
Since then, he has remained actively involved in party growth and grassroots mobilization, as evidenced by his prominent roles in supporting the party and its candidates during subsequent elections.
In the build up to the 2023 elections, he expressed interest in the same position again but later stepped down after consulting with Governor Seyi Makinde and aligning with party leadership, showing loyalty to both the governor and the party structure.
—Consistent Advocate for Legislation That Benefits the People—
Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has been a staunch advocate for legislation designed to improve the lives of the people.
As a concerned private citizen, he has used various dailies to ventilate his opinions on critical issues affecting the polity.
Bibire has relentlessly called for reforms in security, social welfare, healthcare, education, job creation, agriculture, tourism, and what have you.
These efforts confirm that meaningful change can come from passionate advocates who work tirelessly for the common good, without holding any political office.
—The Road to 2027—
Bibire has again declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan Southwest Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election.
He is widely regarded as a frontline aspirant with strong grassroots acceptance, visible humanitarian records, and a growing base of support.
His ambition, according to him, is driven by calls from constituents who believe in his track record of service and his commitment to development.
Many who have pledged their support believe that if he could achieve such substantial achievements, incredible gains, and surpassing progress without holding any political office, he will undoubtedly do even more if given the platform come 2027.
