2027: Suswam Announces Senate Bid
Former Benue State Governor and ex-Senator Gabriel Suswam has officially declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-East Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
“Since I began my political journey in 1998, Benue State has been a place where the people have strongly supported one party,” he stated. “For the first 16 years, Benue was entirely a PDP state. After that, the people shifted their support to the APC.”

“As a son of Benue, I won’t be different from what my people want or believe. They now support the principles and philosophy of the APC,” he added.
Regarding his 2027 ambition, the two-term former governor was clear: “I’m a politician. And as a politician, if you’re still strong enough to contest, you always want to run. The only election I can contest now is for the Senate. I can’t run for governor again, as the constitution prohibits me from doing so. So, yes, I will be running for Senate.”
