BREAKING: Hayatu-Deen Joins ADC, Blames Economic Hardship, Democratic Decline

Former presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions and a troubling decline in its democratic environment.

In a statement released Sunday through his media office, Hayatu-Deen explained that his decision was driven by the ongoing challenges facing the nation, including the rising cost of living and a shrinking democratic space.

“Like many Nigerians, I want a safer and more prosperous future, but the nation faces fundamental problems that are being ignored,” he stated.

He noted that the growing frustrations of citizens have not been addressed, with many calling for a government focused on resolving the nation’s pressing issues.

“Every day I hear from people across the country that they want a government focused on fixing problems, reducing the cost of living, and creating jobs,” he added.

Hayatu-Deen also expressed his concern about the state of democracy in Nigeria, stating that civic voices are being stifled, institutions are under pressure, and the space for credible opposition is diminishing.

“I am also deeply concerned about the increasing shrinkage of our democratic space. Voices are being stifled, institutions are under strain, and the space for credible opposition and real choice is being systematically closed. Democracy must offer Nigerians genuine options. This gives me an even greater impetus to be involved in the political process,” he said.

The former presidential candidate described the ADC as a credible alternative, stressing that his decision to join the party confirms his commitment to promoting a better future for Nigeria.
