Police Begin Probe Of Gunmen Attack Of Immigration Office

The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation after armed men allegedly stole firearms from the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso on Tuesday night.
The attack occurred around 10:00 pm at the office along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Expressway, near an NNPC filling station.
Witnesses said the assailants struck while commercial activities continued at the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market.
Officers on duty were overpowered, and the exact number of firearms stolen has not been confirmed.
The attackers fled the scene under the cover of darkness.
The Police Command issued a statement in Ibadan confirming that a comprehensive probe had begun into the incident.
Police reported that the officer in charge raised the alarm after hoodlums scaled the rear perimeter fence.
Reinforcement teams, including the Command Monitoring Unit and surveillance officers, were immediately deployed to the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that about five attackers gained entry through the rear fence and assaulted two officers on night duty.
The attackers took a G3 rifle with its ammunition, a mobile phone, a generator set, and a motorcycle battery before escaping.
The injured officers have been treated and are in stable condition.
Surveillance and tactical units are combing surrounding areas and potential escape routes to recover the stolen items and arrest the suspects.
Intelligence teams have been activated to provide actionable information for the investigation.
The Police Command, in coordination with the Nigeria Immigration Service and other agencies, is working to apprehend all the perpetrators.
Commissioner of Police Olugbemiga Abimbola directed all operational and intelligence units to deploy resources to ensure a swift arrest.
A joint task team has been set up by the CP and the State Immigration Comptroller to coordinate efforts and strengthen arrest operations.
Residents of Ogbomoso are reassured that the Police Command is committed to protecting lives and property in the area.
The public has been urged to report suspicious activities or persons to the nearest police station, with all information treated confidentially.
