Gunmen Kidnap Four, Kill Vigilante In Abuja

Armed assailants abducted four residents and killed a vigilante during an early morning attack in the Byazhin area of Kubwa, located in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

A local resident, Aliyu, said the attackers were heavily armed and numbered around 28, suggesting they may have been lying in wait before the assault.

He explained that while four community members were taken into the bush, a vigilante who was guiding the area was shot in the back and later succumbed to his injuries.

A security source confirmed the incident and stated that the vigilante had already been buried.

The source added that joint teams of military, police, and local vigilantes had launched a search-and-rescue mission to locate the abducted victims and apprehend the attackers.

“It is true. The vigilante has been buried, and security forces are now combing the bush to rescue the victims and track the criminals,” the source said.

Attempts to reach the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful, as her phone line was unreachable at the time of reporting.

The Byazhin area is a rapidly expanding suburb of Kubwa that has recently been plagued by security challenges.

This incident continues a worrying trend of violent raids in the community, prompting heightened vigilance and intensified security operations in the region.
