Nigerian Army warns Nigerians against fake SSC recruitment advert

The Nigerian Army has dismissed a recruitment advertisement circulating online claiming that applications are open for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) programme, describing the notice as fake, false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Army Public Relations, the Army said it had not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for the Short Service Commission (SSC) or Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and advised members of the public to disregard the fraudulent advertisement.
The Army explained that the fake notice, which was being circulated across social media platforms and other online channels, did not originate from the Nigerian Army or any of its authorised communication platforms.
It warned that fraudsters often use fake recruitment announcements to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, collect personal information and extort money from individuals seeking opportunities to join the military.
The military authorities stressed that whenever recruitment opportunities into the Nigerian Army are approved, the public will be informed through official platforms, including recognised media channels and the Army’s verified communication outlets.
The Army further urged Nigerians interested in joining the service to verify recruitment information before taking any action and to avoid responding to unverified online adverts or individuals claiming to have links with military recruitment officials.
The warning comes amid repeated attempts by scammers to exploit public interest in military recruitment exercises by creating fake application portals and announcements.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency in its recruitment processes and encouraged members of the public with information about fraudulent recruitment activities to report such cases to relevant security authorities.
The Army also reiterated that genuine recruitment exercises are conducted through approved procedures and that applicants are not required to pay unofficial fees to secure enlistment or commission opportunities.
