BREAKING: Man Arraigned Over Alleged N25.6m Beans Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Mohammed Abdullahi Korimi before the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri over an alleged N25.6 million beans fraud.
Korimi faced a two-count charge of criminal misappropriation and obtaining by false pretence.
The defendant allegedly obtained 400 bags of beans valued at N25,647,000 from Maina Hassan Madube in July 2025.
He promised to supply the goods to customers in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, and make payment within a week.
However, the prosecution claims this was a false representation, violating the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
When the charges were read, Korimi pleaded not guilty.
Prosecution counsel S.O. Saka requested a trial date and urged the court to remand Korimi in a correctional facility until further proceedings.
Justice Aisha Kumaliya adjourned the case to April 22, 2026, for a bail hearing and ordered Korimi’s remand at the Maiduguri Maximum Correctional Facility.
The EFCC explained that the case stemmed from a business transaction where Korimi failed to meet agreed payment terms after receiving the goods.
