CNN Exposes ‘Online Rape Academy’ Where Men Share Tips on Drugging, Assaulting Women

CNN has uncovered disturbing online communities where men exchange advice, materials, and videos on how to drug and sexually assault women, including their own partners.

The investigation revealed these networks, operating on encrypted platforms like Telegram, are often referred to as an “online rape academy” by experts and lawmakers.

Members of these communities share detailed techniques on drugging women and committing assaults while victims are unconscious, while others discuss ways to evade detection.

Some of these groups encourage the sharing of assault videos, promoting further criminal activities within the network.

The report ties the rise of these networks to high-profile criminal cases, including one in France, where a man repeatedly drugged his wife and facilitated her rape by others.

French lawmaker Sandrine Josso, a survivor of a similar incident, has condemned the existence of these networks, calling them a global “rape academy.”

Authorities have made arrests and handed down prison sentences to individuals involved in these groups, but enforcement remains difficult due to the use of encrypted platforms and the anonymity they provide.

In response to the findings, Telegram has stated that it removes content promoting sexual violence, though several exposed groups have reappeared on different platforms.

Experts warn that these findings raise serious concerns over the growing misuse of digital platforms to facilitate and normalise sexual violence.

Lawmakers and advocacy groups are calling for stronger regulations, better monitoring systems, and closer collaboration between tech companies and law enforcement to address this issue.
