FULL LIST: See Clubs Relegated from Europe’s Top Five Leagues

The 2025–26 football season has officially concluded across Europe’s “Big Five” leagues, confirming the clubs that will drop out of the continent’s top-flight competitions in the upcoming season.

Relegation from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1 carries major consequences for clubs, including financial losses, reduced broadcasting revenue, and the complex task of rebuilding squads to aim for an immediate return.

With some leagues still having one final game to play, mostly scheduled for Sunday, Polity Reporters has compiled a comprehensive list of all the teams facing relegation.

In England’s Premier League, Burnley ended the season in 21st place and Wolverhampton Wanderers finished 19th, while the fate of a third club remains contingent on the last fixtures involving Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Tottenham currently occupy 17th place with 38 points and can secure their survival if they defeat Everton in their final home game, whereas West Ham sit 18th with 36 points and must win against Leeds United to have any hope of avoiding relegation.

In Spain’s LaLiga, Mallorca (42 points), Girona (41 points), and Real Oviedo (29 points) are confirmed to drop to the second division following a challenging season.

Italy’s Serie A saw Hellas Verona finish with 21 points and Pisa with 18, while the final relegation spot will be contested between Lecce (35 points) and Cremonese (34 points), depending on their last matches.

Germany’s Bundesliga confirmed FC Heidenheim and FC St. Pauli, both with 26 points, as the clubs moving down to the second tier.

In France’s Ligue 1, Nantes ended the season with 23 points and Metz with 17, sealing their demotion to Ligue 2.

The relegation outcomes mark the end of a season filled with drama, where survival battles in each league brought intense pressure on clubs, fans, and managers alike.

The demotion of these teams not only impacts their financial stability but also forces them to rethink strategies, scout for talent, and navigate the psychological challenge of competing in lower divisions with the goal of returning stronger.

As Europe’s top leagues reset for the 2026–27 season, fans of the relegated clubs will hope for swift comebacks, while the promoted sides prepare to step into elite competition with ambition and resilience.
