Gumi Speaks On Ibadan Visit

Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has addressed criticism regarding his visit to Ibadan late last year amid claims he was attempting to Islamize Oyo State.
Gumi affirmed that no one can prevent him from visiting any part of the country and clarified that he was not invited by any Muslim group or individual in the South-West.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he stated that his visit to Ibadan was in his capacity as a representative of northern Islamic scholars.
He made the clarification a day after a victim of the Oriire Local Government Area abduction refuted reports that their abductors demanded the implementation of Sharia law in Oyo State as a condition for their release.
