FIFA Changes Yellow Card Rule for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has amended its yellow card rule to ensure fewer players miss the World Cup knockout rounds.

Under the new rule, yellow cards accumulated during the group stage will be wiped out ahead of the knockout rounds.

This change was proposed during FIFA’s ruling council meeting on Tuesday, and the governing body confirmed the update.

The rule will be implemented for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
