Why You Need To Disconnect From The Wrong People — Pastor Olufemi Olutayo-Salawu

The Lead Pastor of CAC Revival Centre, Pastor Olufemi Olutayo-Salawu, has warned believers who are serious about fulfilling their destiny to, as a matter of urgency, disconnect from those he described as the wrong people.

He made this warning during the Men’s Prayer Vigil, which holds every first Friday of the month.

The cleric explained that a major effect of associating with the wrong people is a gradual decline in one’s life.

He supported this with a Bible passage that shows how Judah’s life went downward after he left his brethren.

He added that the same thing happens to anyone who leaves the circle of people God has placed around them.

He also cited Lot as an example of someone who left the right source and ended up in the wrong place, where his life lost relevance.

“Lot was relevant when he was with Abraham, but when he left that right source, nothing more was heard about him because people rarely hear about those who place themselves in the wrong source,” he said.

Pastor Olutayo-Salawu added that even if a person falls, such a person should fall among people who can lift them up, stressing that falling among the wrong people leads to a complete downfall.

He noted that there are advantages and disadvantages in every association, stressing that the right company brings about holistic growth, while the wrong company produces the opposite result.

To reinforce his point, he recalled how he secured a rewarding job because he associated with the right people who opened the door to a life-changing opportunity.

He said the people one should walk with are those from whom one can tap “grace” and who can support their spiritual life and other areas of development.

“How can a believer keep close company with people who have no sense of direction or purpose in life but are only driven by worldly pleasures?” he questioned.

He noted that while it is important to relate with such people for the purpose of showing Christ to them, one must be careful not to become deeply tied to them.

He affirmed that the company one keeps has a direct impact on both life and destiny, hence, anyone who desires speed and progress in life must let go of relationships that do not add any value.

He therefore advised, “Do not disconnect from healthy friendships with people who challenge you to grow and are committed to your development in all areas of life, especially in your walk with God.”

He added, “The same applies to the church you attend, meaning that you do not disconnect from where you are currently enjoying God’s blessings and growing in His grace.”

The son of the renowned prophet of God, (Prophet M. O. Salawu), reiterated that separation from the right source is one of the ways Satan uses to lead believers away from fulfilling their God-given destiny.

He concluded by urging everyone not to disconnect from the right source, and if they have done so, they should walk away from associations that lead to decline and reconnect with the right source.
