FG Steps Up Efforts to Rescue Abducted Schoolchildren in Oyo, Borno

The Federal Government has said it is intensifying efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in parts of Oyo and Borno States.
The government described their rescue as a top national priority.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a security briefing in Abuja.
He noted that the government is treating the incident with urgency.
Idris said the kidnappings are being regarded as a serious threat to Nigeria’s education system and the country’s future.
He added that security agencies have been fully mobilized for rescue operations under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the minister, the administration remains committed to ensuring the safe return of all victims.
He also stressed that those responsible for the abductions will be brought to justice.
“The President has made it clear that no child belongs in captivity and that no effort will be spared,” Idris said.
The minister conveyed the President’s assurance to affected families, stating: “To the families whose children and loved ones remain in captivity, I convey the assurances of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Idris further added that security agencies have been directed to maintain a robust and coordinated response.
He said efforts are ongoing to track down the abductors.
