SA Security Bibire Takes Security Awareness Campaign To Ibadan Southwest Ward 12, Says Security Is Everyone’s Business

The Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Oyo State on Security, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, sensitized members of the Allied Peoples Movement in Ibadan Southwest Ward 12 on the need to remain alert, observe their environment closely, and promptly report suspicious movements or activities in a position to threaten public peace and safety.

He made the sensitization today, Thursday, during a visit to the party at the ward level where he engaged members on practical security awareness and community based vigilance.

Bibire, who affirmed that security is a collective duty among all residents, placed priority on the importance of timely information sharing and encouraged members to take every report of unusual activity seriously while ensuring that such information is communicated to the appropriate authorities without delay.

He therefore relayed the 615 emergency response line as a direct contact channel for reporting security threats, noting that swift communication with security operatives will help prevent escalation and ensure rapid intervention when necessary.

He however warned strongly against false alarms, stressing that every report made through the 615 line must be accurate and verified, so as not to waste security resources or distract operatives from genuine operations requiring urgent attention.

He also spoke extensively on the dangers of fake news, noting that misinformation has the capacity to create unnecessary panic, divide communities, and disturb the peace of the State by spreading fear amongst residents.

Bibire referenced recent enforcement actions by the Police, including the arrest of individuals linked to false reports around Ido Local Government Area, as an example of the seriousness attached to the circulation of misleading security information.

Speaking further on the need to avoid fake news, he referenced a personal experience where he was on an operational movement to Orire alongside security operatives, only for some residents who sighted the convoy to mistakenly raise false alarm that bandits were on the road.

He said Governor Seyi Makinde remains fully committed to strengthening the security architecture of Oyo State and appealed to residents to continue working closely with the government to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed across the State.

He also used the opportunity to call for unity and mutual understanding among party members, stressing that Ward 12 must not welcome division or internal cracks well equipped to weaken the cohesion and progress the ward has been known for over time.

He concluded by urging everyone present to strengthen their relationship with their Creator, noting that beyond earthly matters, spiritual readiness remains the ultimate preparation for life beyond the present.
