House Mourns Lawmaker

The House of Representatives has expressed sorrow over the death of Rep. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, who represented the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.

In a statement released on Friday by the House spokesperson, Rep. Akintunde Rotimi, the Green Chamber described his passing as a major loss to the National Assembly, his constituency, and the nation at large.

The statement confirmed that the lawmaker died in Abuja following a brief illness, with his passing also verified by the Gombe State Caucus in the House of Representatives.

“The House of Representatives mourns the passing of Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, a dedicated public servant whose contributions to legislative work and constituency development will be deeply missed,” Rotimi said.

The House further described him as a strong advocate for his constituents, noting that he brought extensive experience and deep understanding of governance to parliamentary proceedings.

On behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the leadership and members of the House extended condolences to his family, constituents, and the government and people of Gombe State.
