I Have No Godfather — Rivers Guber Candidate Fubara

Blessing Fubara, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State, has stated that he does not operate under any political godfather, insisting that his political direction is guided solely by God.

Fubara made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Friday night, where he also dismissed claims that his governorship ambition is tied to his brother’s political influence.

“I don’t have a godfather but I have God the Father. If my ambition were dependent on the assumptions being made, then it would mean I lack clarity and focus in what I am pursuing,” he said.

He further explained that his political path is independent of his brother, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, noting that both of them hold different political beliefs and approaches.

“The Nigerian public and the world witnessed what happened between my brother and his former party. We may be related, but we have different political ideologies and personal perspectives,” he said.

Fubara described the political environment in Rivers State as tense and challenging, suggesting that conflicting narratives are being used to influence public opinion.

He maintained that his focus remains on what he described as the future of the state, stressing the need for purposeful leadership.
