Inibehe Effiong knocks First Lady Remi Tinubu over remarks on Akara, Corn, Kuli-kuli businesses

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has criticized First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, over her recent remarks encouraging Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses as a means of sustaining their livelihoods amid economic hardship.
The First Lady had advised Nigerians to explore simple entrepreneurial ventures as a way of meeting basic needs such as feeding, rent, and school fees, according to her recent public comments.
Reacting in a post on his X handle on Saturday, Effiong argued that the advice should be practically demonstrated by political leaders and their families if it is to carry weight with ordinary Nigerians.
He wrote: “Senator Remi Tinubu should first set up Corn, Akara and Kuli Kuli business for some members of her family and the APC women leaders.”
He added: “It will encourage other Nigerians to venture into the same business.”
According to him, such a move would help validate the First Lady’s assertion that small-scale businesses can sustain livelihoods and meet essential financial responsibilities.
Effiong further wrote: “Since she believes that with such ventures, one can make enough money to feed, pay house rent, pay school fees and solve other basic needs.”
The lawyer also extended his criticism to the broader leadership of the country, including President Bola Tinubu, accusing the administration of poor governance and insensitivity to citizens’ struggles.
He stated: “A family where the husband and wife are wicked and greedy shouldn’t be allowed close to the presidency of a country.”
He further added: “Bola Tinubu and Remi Tinubu are very vicious and extremely dangerous.”
Effiong also warned that public judgment would extend into the future, saying: “The unborn generation of Nigerians will not forgive the present generation for allowing wicked people to hold this country down.”
His comments have added to ongoing public debate over rising living costs and economic hardship in Nigeria under the administration of Bola Tinubu.
