Fagbenro-Bibire Celebrates Wale Babalakin SAN On Birthday, Commends His Commitment To Education, National Development

The Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Oyo State on Security Matters, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, has congratulated Dr. Bolanle Olawale Babalakin, OFR, SAN, President of GCIOBA, on the occasion of his birthday, today, July 1, 2026.

He described him as an accomplished legal luminary, a respected administrator, and a worthy ambassador of Government College Ibadan, whose contributions continue to set the bar high and light the path for many within and outside Nigeria.

Bibire, who is also an Old Boy of Government College Ibadan and the Vice Chairman of the GCIOBA North America Set 84, made this known in a congratulatory message, where he joined members of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, family, friends, and associates in celebrating the elder statesman.

He said Dr. Babalakin has remained a reliable backbone of support to Government College Ibadan, noting that his leadership has continued to hold the fort and bring old boys under one umbrella in pursuit of a common goal of restoring the school’s proud tradition and building a better learning environment for present and future generations.

According to Bibire, the notable turnaround witnessed in Government College Ibadan in recent years is a clear proof of purposeful leadership, strategic alignment, and the willingness of old boys to give back to the school that made them who they are today.

He stated that Dr. Babalakin’s belief in education, discipline, excellence, and service has continued to find resonance with younger generations, particularly members of the association who regard him as one defined by his deeds, in line with a verse of the school anthem which holds that consideration for our nation comes first through our examples, not by precepts.

Bibire added that beyond Government College Ibadan, Dr. Babalakin has continued to distinguish himself through his contributions to the legal profession, business, education, and national development, bagging the respect of people from different walks of life.
