“Reject REA Appointment, You Are Bigger Than This” — Fayose’s Brother Challenges Ex-Governor Over Tinubu’s Offer

Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has advised his elder brother to reject his appointment as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), describing the position as below his political stature.
Isaac, who made the call in a social media video, argued that the former governor had attained a level of political relevance that should make him aspire to bigger responsibilities rather than accepting a federal board appointment.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the REA Board alongside other Nigerians appointed into various federal agencies and commissions.
Reacting to the development, Isaac Fayose said his brother’s experience and political influence placed him above the REA chairmanship, urging him to reconsider the decision.
According to him, the former governor should focus on positions that align more closely with his political experience and national relevance.
“Bros, you are too big for REA chairmanship. You have been governor twice. You have played a major role in Nigerian politics,” Isaac Fayose said.
He added that accepting the appointment could reduce the perception of the former governor’s political standing, insisting that Ayo Fayose should pursue opportunities that match his profile.
The younger Fayose’s comment has generated reactions among political observers, with some arguing that public service appointments should be judged based on impact rather than status, while others believe former governors deserve higher national responsibilities.
Ayo Fayose, a former two term governor of Ekiti State, remains one of the prominent figures in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has maintained visibility in national political discussions since leaving office.
His appointment as REA chairman comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to expand electricity access, especially in rural communities through renewable and off grid energy projects.
The REA is responsible for implementing programmes aimed at providing electricity solutions to underserved communities across Nigeria.
