Hearn Reveals What Can Stop Joshua, Fury Clash

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has insisted that only a defeat or a serious injury can prevent the long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury from taking place, dismissing recent doubts raised about the highly anticipated all British clash.

Hearn, the chairman of Matchroom Boxing, said preparations for the fight remain on course despite Fury suggesting that the bout could still fall through, with the promoter expressing confidence that both fighters are determined to finally settle their rivalry inside the ring.

The proposed Joshua Fury encounter has been one of boxing’s most talked about fights for several years, with fans eagerly waiting to see two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight stars face each other after years of negotiations and missed opportunities.

The promoter argued that Joshua’s commitment to major fights has never been in doubt, pointing out that the former unified heavyweight champion has remained willing to face elite opponents throughout his career.

Hearn’s comments came after Fury raised concerns about whether the bout would eventually happen, reviving memories of previous negotiations that collapsed before the two fighters could meet.

The planned contest is expected to attract global attention due to the reputations of both fighters, with Joshua and Fury having dominated the heavyweight boxing scene for years and becoming two of the sport’s biggest commercial attractions.

Both boxers are reportedly preparing for the showdown through separate warm up fights before the proposed meeting later in 2026, with the event expected to generate significant interest among boxing fans worldwide.

Fury, a former WBC heavyweight champion, and Joshua, a former unified heavyweight title holder, have previously come close to fighting each other, but disagreements over negotiations, mandatory challengers and scheduling issues delayed the bout.

Hearn maintained that unless either fighter suffers a setback in the form of a loss or injury, the long awaited “Battle of Britain” heavyweight contest will go ahead as planned.

The potential fight remains one of the biggest attractions in modern heavyweight boxing, with supporters hoping that the two British champions will finally share the ring after years of anticipation.
