Adamawa Attack: 11 Killed as Terrorists Invade Community

Eleven people have reportedly been killed after suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, leaving residents in panic and forcing many others to flee for safety.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday when the attackers stormed the community, opened fire on residents and set several houses ablaze during the invasion.
A resident of the village, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak publicly, said 11 bodies had been recovered as search teams and security personnel continued efforts to locate missing residents.
“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Many people are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” the resident said.
Another resident who lost family members in the attack said his wife and two other relatives were among those killed during the early morning assault.
The attack has heightened concerns over renewed terrorist activities in parts of Adamawa State, especially communities located in remote areas where insurgents have continued to pose security threats.
As of the time of filing this report, the Adamawa State Police Command had not officially confirmed the attack or the reported casualty figure, while calls put through to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, were reportedly unanswered.
Zaranga village is located in Gombi Local Government Area, an area that has previously witnessed attacks linked to insurgent activities.
The latest incident adds to the security challenges confronting parts of Nigeria’s North-East, where communities have continued to experience attacks by armed groups despite ongoing military operations against terrorists.
Security agencies are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue and search operations for missing residents are concluded.
