BREAKING: Dapo Abiodun Emerges As APC Consensus Candidate for Ogun East

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun as their consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
The endorsement was made at a gathering on Monday at the Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, which brought together a broad coalition of party leaders and grassroots representatives.
According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abiodun, Lekan Adeniran, the event saw participation from members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, former and serving local government chairmen, past and present lawmakers, councillors, and youth and women leaders.
The meeting included councillors, all ward chairmen and executives, local government chairmen and executives, serving members of the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly, and past members of both the State and National Assembly.
Former Ogun East senator, Lekan Mustapha, explained that the decision was based on the shared belief that Governor Abiodun is capable of effectively representing the district in the Senate.
Mustapha mentioned that party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor and would also commit to purchasing his nomination forms for the 2027 election.
He established that Abiodun is a leader of strong character and intellect, deserving of support for his senatorial bid.
Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, noted that the governor’s track record in governance and party cohesion makes him the ideal candidate for the Senate seat.
House of Representatives member, Femi Ogunbanwo, expressed confidence in Abiodun’s ability to bring more development to Ogun East at the national level, citing his administration’s commitment to peace and progress in the state.
Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Afolabi Odulate, praised the governor’s performance and reiterated the district’s support for his senatorial bid.
The event also saw the participation of all 103 councillors from the nine local governments in Ogun East, along with youth leaders and key grassroots mobilisers.
Prominent figures at the meeting included Senator Gbenga Kaka, Ogun East APC Chairman Adedoyin Adeleke, and respected party elders like Kola Ogunjobi, Bayo Dayo, Durojaye, Pegba Otemolu, James Dina, and Osibote Amoran.
Also present were Femi Nuberu, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Adesola Elegbeji, Joseph Adegbesan, and Femi Ogunbanwo, members of the House of Representatives.
