Harvard Speech: Fagbenro-Bibire Praises Gov Makinde for Global Spotlight, 21st Century Leadership

Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for projecting Oyo State to the global stage through his recent speech at Harvard Kennedy School.

This commendation was contained in a statement he signed and made available to Polity Reporters today, Thursday.

Bibire said the governor’s presentation, themed around industrialisation, leadership and continuity, clearly showed a leader who understands governance beyond routine politics and is heavily committed on making lasting impact.

He noted that Makinde’s appearance at such a global platform validates the growing recognition of Oyo State as a model for practical governance and structured development.

He said, “For a sitting governor with just about a year left in office to still be speaking about working systems, continuity and long-term development tells you the kind of leader we are dealing with.”

The leading aspirant for Ibadan Northwest and Southwest Federal Constituency under the umbrella of PDP added that the numero uno of Oyo State has continued to work tirelessly without slowing down, insisting that his commitment to service has remained perpetual from his first day in office.

He said, “Many leaders begin to wind down at this stage, but Governor Makinde is still pushing forward, still laying foundations, opening up the economy, and still thinking about what will outlive him.”

Speaking on his achievements, Bibire pointed to the expansion of road infrastructure linking economic zones, the boost in internally generated revenue, the transformation of agribusiness through Fasola and other hubs, and improved security across the state.

He also mentioned strides in education, healthcare delivery and the steady payment of salaries and pensions as part of the administration’s people focused policies.

He said, “What we are seeing is not guesswork but clear leadership backed by planning, execution and results that can be seen and felt by the people.”

The compassionate politician further stated that Makinde’s emphasis on creating an enabling environment for private sector growth stands in tandem with modern governance and sets Oyo State apart.

He said, “He has shown that government must have a business in creating the right conditions for businesses and investors to suceed.”

The first-class philanthropist concluded that Makinde has not only governed Oyo State to the satisfaction of the people but has also positioned it as a reference point for responsible leadership in Nigeria, and Africa.

“Governor Makinde has placed Oyo State on the global map with a style of leadership that speaks to this generation and the future, and that is why many of us remain proud to stand with him,” he ended.
