BREAKING: Kano Gets New Deputy Governor

The Kano State House of Assembly has officially confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

This confirmation followed a screening session held during a plenary meeting led by Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello presented the report from the ad hoc committee, explaining that Garo’s nomination came after the resignation of the previous Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

Bello clarified that the screening process adhered to Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which grants the Assembly the authority to approve a nominee when a vacancy arises in the deputy governor’s office.

The ad hoc committee highlighted that Garo underwent a thorough screening, addressing questions about his education, professional experience, understanding of governance, and his plans to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration. His credentials were also confirmed.

The committee found that Garo demonstrated a solid understanding of the role and presented practical plans that align with the state’s governmental goals.

After the committee’s report was presented, the House unanimously adopted the recommendation, formally confirming Garo as the new Deputy Governor.
